Description
The Department of Building and Housing works to help ensure the people
of New Zealand have access to quality homes and buildings that meet
their needs and reflect our New Zealand environment. It offers a range
of building and housing related information and guidance, including
advice and information to landlords with residential rental properties
and to tenants who rent their homes.
The Department provides dispute resolution services to landlords and
tenants, as well as advice about rights and obligations. The Department
also receives and holds bonds until the end of a tenancy, when either
the landlord or tenant can apply for a refund.
