Bad tenants and how to avoid them
Question from Sue Booker updated on 27th June 2007:
Could you please tell me if there is a web site that we can log into for bad tenants - to warn other landlords about. I am a Property Manager and have had two bad ones that I am still trying to get money out of them. Also been to the courts and were no help. Thanks for your time
Our expert responded:

You could contact Tenancy Information New Zealand, www.tinz.net.nz and explore your options with them. They provide various services for a fee, but may be able to offer a solution. This is a very useful website if your are a multiple-property investor and would like to do tenant checks on prospective tenants.
www.landlordcheck.co.nz is a website where tenants get the chance to rate landlords and property managers online. Landlords with good ratings can advertise properties to let for free on the website. (Go to Toolbox to read the review of this website.)
Currently there is not a specific website in New Zealand that caters for naming and shaming 'bad' tenants.
