Sanitary concerns

How do we get a property survey report to find out if rented accommodation is unsanitary or not? Who would we contact in Papakura, Auckland?

Under the Residential Tenancies Act (the Act), landlords are responsible for ensuring that the premises comply with all the relevant health, safety and building regulations that apply to the premises. They are responsible for ensuring that the premises are maintained in a reasonable state of repair, having regard to the age and character of the premises. To determine whether a property complies with all the relevant health, safety and building regulations, you may wish to contact your local council.
